PREMIUMThe Riviera Maya's All-Inclusive Adventure Park
A no-fluff guide to Xplor and Xplor Fuego — what's covered, how to get there, and how to plan one all-inclusive day in the jungle.
Xplor is the adventure park in the heart of the Riviera Maya, tucked into the jungle just south of Playa del Carmen and about an hour’s drive from Cancún. It is run by Grupo Xcaret — the same company behind Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xenses and Xavage — but where its sister parks lean toward marine life, culture or river-floating, Xplor is the one built purely around adrenaline: zip-lines strung between treetop towers, water-filled cave passages you swim and paddle through, and amphibious vehicles that climb over jungle bridges and into the dark. One ticket covers the lot, which is why “all-inclusive” is the phrase you’ll see attached to it everywhere. This page exists to make booking that ticket simple, and to tell you honestly what you’re getting before you pay.
The headline activities are the four that show up in every guest review. The underground rivers are the signature: two separate courses carved through limestone caves and hung with stalactites, one you swim and one you paddle by raft. The zip-line circuits send you flying between towers above the jungle canopy, some ending with a splash. The amphibious vehicles — four-seaters you drive yourself — wind along jungle trails, across bridges and through cave tunnels. Add the hammock splash and a handful of smaller water features and you have a full day’s worth of activity without ever leaving the park.
Just as important is what comes bundled in. Your admission includes an unlimited energy buffet, snacks and smoothies, plus all the gear you need: helmet, harness, life jacket, raft and paddling gloves, the amphibious vehicle itself, and lockers and changing rooms. In practice that means you arrive with a swimsuit and a towel and the park handles the rest. Round-trip transport from your hotel is included only if you choose the option that has it — the admission-only ticket leaves you to arrange your own ride, so if you don’t have a car, pick the transport option when you book.
A few things are deliberately not included, and they’re the usual ones: tips, professional photos, and souvenirs are extra. None of that affects the core day.
The park runs in two modes. Xplor is the daytime version most people book — the full slate of rivers, zip-lines and vehicles under the sun. Xplor Fuego (“fuego” means fire) is the evening version: the same jungle, the same activities, but torch-lit after dark, typically with thinner crowds and dinner instead of the daytime buffet. Hours and exactly what’s open shift by season, so confirm the current schedule when you book rather than relying on a fixed time. If you only have one slot and want the classic experience, choose Xplor day; if you want something quieter and more atmospheric, Fuego is the one to look at.
Xplor sits in the Riviera Maya near Playa del Carmen — roughly 80 km (about an hour) from Cancún, ten to fifteen minutes from central Playa, and around an hour from Tulum. The tickets on this page are sold from each of those starting points, so you can book the pickup that matches where you’re staying. The transport options use air-conditioned shuttles and, on busy days, a transfer through a local depot before the final leg to the park — a detail several guests mention and one worth knowing so the timing doesn’t surprise you.
This is a physical day. The park itself flags that it is not suitable for pregnant women or guests with back or heart problems, and that wheelchair access is limited. Children are admitted on a height-based rate rather than a flat child price, and the youngest visitors have limited access to some activities. If everyone in your group is reasonably mobile and comfortable in water, it’s a brilliant family or group day out — the reviews are full of parents whose kids “went on all the zip-lines.”
Pack light and pack smart. Bring comfortable shoes, swimwear, a change of clothes and a towel. The single most important rule: only biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent are allowed, because the underground rivers are a living cave system and ordinary chemical sunscreen is banned to protect them. You can buy biodegradable products at the park if you forget, but it’s cheaper to bring your own.
Every ticket on this page is a real GetYourGuide listing with free cancellation up to 24 hours before, instant confirmation and a mobile voucher — the same booking you’d make on the platform directly, with no aggregator markup. The featured option is top-rated at 4.8/5 across more than 90 verified reviews, and we’ve laid out the Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya pickups side by side so you can pick the one that fits your hotel. Prices and seasonal hours do move, so the live widget always shows the current rate and availability for your date.

"Great activity. So much fun would definitely recommend. Buffet was good too!"

"This was an unforgettable experience. Bus picked us up to take us to a local depot where we then went on another bus to Xplor. Very organised. The Park was out of this world, all activities were fantastic, had so much fun. The food and drinks were really good too. Such a great day"
"This activity was perfect , we got picked up on time , made our way to the park and had a lot of free time , we got there just after 9am and left at 5pm which was plenty of time to explore and do everything at a chilled time and even do things again . I will mention the one con we had was we was told a day before sliders weren’t allowed and it HAD to be water shoes which we had to then buy at the park costing us £70 for two pairs , however other then that everything was out of this world , it’s something I 100% recommend , I can’t even describe how beautiful the underwater cave system is in person which you can swim through, or ziplining over the green canopy at all different heights , an insane waterslide and a speedy bumpy buggy you drive yourself around an actual amazing track . Definitely book this if you have time , it’s a little expensive but I promise it’s worth it"
"The money was worth it !! It was very funny and the food was also good !"
"All activities ran smoothly. Very organised place with short queues that moved quickly. We had so much fun as a family of 4. kids 9 and 7. They went on all ziplines. The food was also amazing!"

Only if you choose the option that includes it. Tickets come in two forms: admission-only (you arrange your own ride to the park) and admission with round-trip hotel transport from Cancún, Playa del Carmen or the Riviera Maya. If you don't have a car, select the transport option when booking — an air-conditioned shuttle collects you from your hotel and brings you back. See our guide to getting to Xplor Park for drive times and which pickup to book.

For an active day, yes — the featured ticket is rated 4.8 out of 5 by more than 90 verified guests, who consistently praise how organized the park is and how much is packed into one all-inclusive price. Because gear, food and drinks are all covered, there are no surprise costs once you're inside. If you want adrenaline (zip-lines, cave rivers, amphibious vehicles) rather than beaches or ruins, Xplor is the standout adventure park in the Riviera Maya. Still deciding between parks? Read our Xplor vs Xcaret comparison to pick the right one for your trip.
Xplor Fuego is the evening version of the park ('fuego' means fire). You get the same jungle, zip-lines, underground rivers and amphibious vehicles, but torch-lit after dark, usually with thinner crowds and dinner instead of the daytime buffet. Choose Xplor day for the classic experience under the sun, or Xplor Fuego for a quieter, more atmospheric night. Hours vary by season, so confirm the current Fuego schedule when you book. Our full Xplor vs Xplor Fuego guide breaks down the differences in hours, activities and food.
Xplor runs as a full-day park (typically opening mid-morning and closing in the late afternoon), while Xplor Fuego runs in the evening. Exact hours and which activities are open shift with the season, so check the live booking page for the current schedule on your chosen date rather than relying on a fixed time. For how day and night hours compare, see our day vs night guide.
Xplor sits in the Riviera Maya just south of Playa del Carmen — roughly 80 km (about an hour) from Cancún, ten to fifteen minutes from central Playa del Carmen, and around an hour from Tulum. Tickets are sold from each of these starting points, so you can book the pickup that matches where you're staying. Our how to get to Xplor Park guide has the full distance and drive-time table.
Bring comfortable shoes, swimwear, a change of clothes and a towel. The most important rule: only biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent are allowed, because the underground rivers are a living cave system and regular chemical sunscreen is banned to protect it. You can buy biodegradable products at the park if you forget, but bringing your own is cheaper. See our full what to bring to Xplor Park guide for the complete packing list and sunscreen rules.
Yes — the underground rivers are real water-filled limestone cave passages hung with stalactites and stalagmites, part of the Riviera Maya's natural cave system. There are two courses: one you swim and one you paddle by raft. This is exactly why only biodegradable products are permitted in the water. Our packing and sunscreen guide explains which products are allowed and what gets confiscated at the gate.
They suit different travelers. Xplor is the pure-adventure park — zip-lines, cave rivers and amphibious vehicles, all-inclusive with food and gear. Xcaret (its sister park, also by Grupo Xcaret) leans cultural and marine, with shows, wildlife and gentler river floats. If you want adrenaline and to come home tired, book Xplor; if you want a slower, family-and-culture day, Xcaret is the better fit. Some visitors do both on separate days. Our detailed Xplor vs Xcaret guide compares what's included, food and who each park suits.
Xplor is a physically demanding day. The park advises that it is not suitable for pregnant women or guests with back or heart problems, and wheelchair access is limited. Children are welcome on a height-based rate, though the youngest visitors have limited access to some activities. If everyone in your group is reasonably mobile and comfortable in water, it's an excellent family or group day out.
Booking ahead online is the safer choice. It locks in your date and the transport option, gives you instant confirmation and a mobile voucher, and lets you cancel free up to 24 hours before. You'll receive an official voucher (sent by WhatsApp the day before) that you must present at the gate — without it, entry isn't permitted, so reserve before you travel.
Pricing is set by the park and the booking platform, and seasonal rates vary, so the live widget always reflects the best current price for your date. Children are charged a reduced height-based rate, and the all-inclusive structure (food, drinks and gear bundled in) means the headline price is the price — there are no hidden add-ons once you're inside. Booking the right pickup option for your hotel is the easiest way to avoid paying extra for separate transport.
